Tung trees had been Hakka’s economical plants. They collected the seeds of Tung tree to earn money for live. Now Tung Flower (Tung Blossom) becomes one of the representatives of Hakka.Tung trees usually bloom in April and May. Tung Flower is also named “Snow of May” because Tung Flower will fully cover on the surface of mountains in May and looks like snow! During the Hakka Tung Flower Festival held every year, people like to see Tung Flowers with families and friends, and meantime they can also experience Hakka’s live, especially the Hakka foods!
Tung Flower widely distributes over north Taiwan and central Taiwan. The following list will present the distributions of Tung Flower in detail.
Taipei:
Tuchen(土城), Sansia(三峽), Railway from Pinshi(平溪) to Jintung(菁桐).
Taoyuan:
Dasi(大溪), Longtan(龍潭).
Hsinchu:
Cyonglin(芎林), Beipu(北埔), Ermei(峨眉), Hengshan(橫山).
Miaoli:
Gongguang(公館), Shihtan(獅潭), Nanjhuang(南庄), Tongluo(銅鑼).
Taichung:
Dongshih(東勢).
